An internal memo to federal NDP candidates and their campaign teams urges them to prepare for a potential federal election as early as March 10, the day after the Liberals are expected to announce their new leader. The memo, obtained by The Canadian Press, was sent by the NDP’s national campaign director, Jennifer Howard, to the approximately 140 candidates who have been nominated so far.
The document suggests that it’s increasingly likely that former central banker Mark Carney will secure the Liberal leadership, and NDP officials have heard rumors that he may call a snap election soon after taking the helm.
