This is President’s Club Day, brought to you by Jayden’s Mechanical and today we’re featuring Dwayne Ayris, President of the Kerwood-Adelaide-Metcalfe Optimist Club.
Ayris says he’s been involved in the Club since he was 18 years old, and that’s been 30 years. He’s been President three times and has also served as Vice President and Director. They currently have 48 members…but have seen as many as 80 in previous years before membership dropped off.
Ayris says some of their recent projects include a beautiful park in Kerwood, and work with local Girl Guides and Boy Scouts. It’s all about youth for the Optimists. Their youth ball tournament has been running for over 40 years and Ayris says they also provide a free, local soccer program from mid-June to mid-August.
Their Optimist Club also donates to local schools…and they’re not alone. Their Club is also involved with the Alvinston and Watford Optimist Clubs and there’s even a Junior Optimist Club.
Facebook is where you can find a lot more information if you’re interested in the Kerwood-Adelaide-Metcalfe Optimist Club.
