This is the President’s Club, brought to you by Jayden’s Mechanical and right now we’re featuring Mark Colpaert, President of the Strathroy-Caradoc Horticultural Society.
They’re a community-based, community-minded group of volunteer gardeners dedicated to sharing their love of gardening …and range from absolute beginner to vastly experienced and Master Gardeners. Their main focus is on home gardens and Colpaert says they have monthly meetings and monthly speakers as well.
Colpaert says being President basically means overseeing the Society…and it’s 110 members, with help from the Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Along with maintaining the four community gardens in Strathroy-Caradoc, Colpaert says the Society holds two, big events.
The first, their biggest fundraiser, is the plant sale held on the Saturday of the Victoria Day weekend. Plants are donated be members and non-members. The second event is the Garden Tour in July and while it was cancelled through Covid it came back last year, stronger than ever.
Membership in the Strathroy-Caradoc Horticultural Society is open to everyone with an interest in gardening, plants, the environment and landscaping.
