A motion to revise the current Strathroy-Caradoc flag bylaw to only fly the Canadian, provincial and municipal flags was defeated by a recorded vote of 8-1 at this week’s council meeting. As myFM reported to you last week, Ward 2 Councillor Brian Derbyshire introduced the notice of motion for discussion but this week was soundly defeated in chambers. The current municipal flag bylaw will remain as is. The current bylaw states that flags representing political, religious, or hatred/violence will not be flown and any local organization interested in potentially flying their flag are to contact the municipality.
