Seasons Strathroy Retirement Community recently made a donation of 1,107 canned goods to the Ailsa Craig and Area Food Bank stemming from their One Can make A Difference campaign that ran from July 1st to 12th. Each year, Seasons Retirement Communities in Ontario and Alberta unite to make a positive impact in their local communities, with a 2024 goal of 7,000 cans across all Seasons Retirement Communities, ultimately bringing in 9,543 cans company-wide.
According to Food Banks Canada, there were 1.9 million visits in March 2023, a record-breaking increase of 32.1% from the previous year and 78.5% compared to March 2019. Statistics Canada reported that in 2023, Ontario had a food insecurity rate of 19.2%, and Alberta had a rate of 21.8%. Since 2016, Seasons Retirement Communities has partnered with local food banks for its corporate giving initiatives, donating over $300,000 in funds and food to date.
