The Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) Foundation celebrated a landmark achievement at its annual general meeting this week, announcing a record-breaking year of community generosity. Chair Martha Hunt revealed that in 2023, the Foundation raised an impressive $3.8 million in donations, marking its most successful fundraising effort to date.
The funds raised include $2.1 million allocated for crucial hospital equipment, including the acquisition of a state-of-the-art CT Scanner, and $1.7 million designated for the proposed hospital redevelopment.
Hunt extended gratitude to the countless volunteers whose dedication and hard work contributed to the Foundation’s success. She specifically acknowledged the efforts of volunteers involved in organizing key fundraising events such as the Ranney Gorge Run, Doctors’ Cook-off, and Catch the Ace Raffle, all of which surpassed previous years’ contributions.
During the meeting, Hunt also commended the Foundation’s rebranding efforts, unveiling a new logo and website that reflect the organization’s dynamic spirit and commitment to local healthcare.
The AGM marked a poignant moment as the Foundation bid farewell to outgoing Chair Calvin Newman, who retired after 14 years of service. Hunt credited Newman for his steadfast leadership and advocacy, which played a pivotal role in the Foundation’s growth and achievements.
Looking forward, the Foundation welcomed Beth Lucciola of Havelock as its newest board member, signaling a continuation of its mission to enhance healthcare services in the community.
In addition to successful signature events and community-driven fundraisers, including partnerships with local businesses and organizations, the Foundation highlighted its substantial investments in hospital equipment and infrastructure upgrades throughout the year.
