The United Way of Peterborough and District has named Peterborough realtor Shirley Turner its 2024 Campaign Chair.
A longtime supporter of, and advocate for, the United Way, Turner will lead the campaign cabinet’s fundraising efforts while engaging with potential donors and hosting community events.
Turner was introduced by United Way CEO Jim Russell on Wednesday morning. She later reflected on what was behind putting her name forward for the Campaign Chair role.
Turner added being “part of the solution” is important to her.
Russell says the role of the Campaign Chair in the annual appeal’s success can’t be overestimated and, as such, vetting for the role is extensive. He adds the position has two primary objectives.
The 2024 United Way campaign will officially kick-off September 11th at the Healthy Planet Arena when the dollar goal is revealed.
