On Saturday, Middlesex Centre Mayor Aina DeViet and Councillor Sue Cates opened the new playground at Komoka Park.
The municipal budget covered the core funding for the project, while the Optimist Club of Komoka-Kilworth contributed an extra $60,000, adding more elements to the play structure. Middlesex Paving & Maintenance donated all the asphalt, improving the path to the new playground.
The playground includes new structures like climbers, slides, and spinners, promoting physical fitness and activity. Many of the structures are designed for accessibility, allowing children of all abilities to join in the fun.
Middlesex Centre aims to ensure parks and facilities meet the needs of all residents. Their Accessibility Policy, Community Services Master Plan, and Age-Friendly Community Action Plan emphasize the importance of accessible facilities for all ages and abilities.
