It’s NextGen Farmer day here at 105.7 myFM, where we profile amazing people making a difference in the community presented by Just Farms Realty Inc. Right now we are taking a look at Human Resources and Sustainability Manager at Gray Ridge Farms, Hollie Chavarria.
The family legacy began with Lyle and Ina Gray’s establishing L. H. Gray & Son as the sole egg grading station in the region by 1969. The following year, Ina Gray introduced the iconic “Gray Ridge Eggs Farms” brand, a fusion of their family name “Gray” and a tribute to their Ridgetown roots with “Ridge.”
Today, Bill Gray proudly continues this tradition. As the head of Gray Ridge Eggs, Inc., he has steered the company to become a key player in Ontario’s farm-to-table egg market. Their products, including Gray Ridge Egg Farms, GoldEgg, and Conestoga Farms brands, grace the shelves of thousands of grocery stores and restaurants across the province.
From its inception, Gray Ridge Eggs has prioritized providing Ontario families with top-quality eggs. Central to this mission is their close partnership with Ontario egg farmers. Each farmer is carefully selected for their passion for egg farming, care for their hens, and unwavering commitment to producing only the finest eggs.
What began as a single grading station has evolved into a network of modern egg grading facilities in Southwestern Ontario. These facilities, where the Gray Ridge family diligently upholds food safety and quality standards, boast Safe Quality Food Level 2 certification from the globally recognized Safe Quality Food body. All grading stations adhere to the standards of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) under the Canadian FSEP (Food Safety Enhanced Program).
The Gray Ridge Eggs legacy is not just about producing eggs; it’s about a deep-rooted commitment to excellence, sustainability, and supporting local agriculture. They also continue to look for new an innovative ways to keep production running smoothly.
Their journey from a humble grading station to an industry leader is a testament to the values of hard work, quality, and community that have defined Gray Ridge Eggs for generations.
