The Ontario government says it is investing two-billion dollars over three years in home care services, nearly one-billion more for hospitals and hundreds of millions to expand primary care coverage. That’s all part of the billions of new dollars set aside for health care in the newly tabled budget. myFM reached out to Julie McBrien, President and CEO of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance which incorporates Strathroy Hospital and Four Counties Health Services in Newbury. McBrien was pleased with what the budget had to say.
She did say there’s still a lot of time before they actually see how much the local hospitals will get and where that funding can be allocated.
McBrien did add that the part of the budget that focused on health care is definitely a positive moving forward.
The finance minister says the new money for home care will be spent on increasing compensation for nurses, personal support workers and other front-line home care providers. The budget also says the government will invest an additional 446-million dollars over three years on its primary care expansion strategy.
