Canadian Blood Services is looking for more people to add to its Stem Cell Registry, and is doing so through Ontario’s colleges and universities.
Community Development Manager Jill Gemmiti says they’re hoping to lessen the number of people waiting for stem cells.
While Canadian Blood Services has done blood donor clinics at universities in the past, this is the first time they’ve done a tour of schools for stem cell registry. Gemmiti says this is done at colleges and universities because of the age of most students at these schools.
She adds that the process to get on the registry doesn’t take very long.
Canadian Blood Services will be set up at Trent University in the Athletic Centre February 12th.
