A man accused of second-degree murder in the death of his elderly mother refused to attend a scheduled court appearance on Friday. 59 year-old, Emanuel Medeiros was supposed to appear via video from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre, but he declined. The judge didn’t insist and advised Medeiros to seek legal aid. The case involves the death of Maria Medeiros in North Middlesex. Medeiros is charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled for the next court appearance on February 1st. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact OPP.
