This week at Strathroy-Caradoc Council, they recognized the 2023 Medal of Distinction to Rob Talach and Ian Johnston.
Rob Talach was honored with the Medal of Distinction in Heroism for his courageous actions on December 6, 2022. While returning home with his son, Oskar, from Cadets, Rob witnessed a tractor-trailer accident and promptly intervened. Taking immediate action, he initiated first aid for the unconscious driver trapped inside the wreckage. As a fire erupted in the engine, Rob, assisted by two additional truck drivers, successfully extinguished the flames. Oskar, meanwhile, applied pressure to the driver’s wounds. Oskar received a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor.
Ian Johnston was awarded the Medal of Distinction in Volunteerism for his dedicated involvement with the 1st Strathroy Scouts. He plays a crucial role in providing the youth of Strathroy-Caradoc with unforgettable experiences. Additionally, Ian passionately educates the next generation about recycling, showcasing his commitment to environmental causes.
The Municipality’s Medal of Distinction stands as the highest municipal honor for residents and supporters of the Strathroy-Caradoc community. Mayor Colin Grantham presented the medals to the recipients during the Strathroy-Caradoc Council meeting, personally expressing gratitude for their outstanding contributions to the community.
