Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with drug trafficking-related offenses following a routine traffic stop on September 09, 2023.
At approximately 8 am on that day, officers pulled over a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offense. An investigation began, leading to the arrests of both the driver and passenger in the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Mitchell Duffy, a 36-year-old resident of Fenelon Falls, has been charged with a list of offenses, including:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Cash
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Speeding 1-49km/h over Posted Limit
- Use Other Person’s Licence
- Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
Duffy is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay for a bail hearing. Further legal proceedings regarding his charges will take place as per the court’s schedule.
The passenger in the vehicle, Tosha Graham Bloomfield, also 36 years old, hailing from Lindsay, was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Cash
Bloomfield is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on a later date.
The vehicle involved in the incident has been impounded for 45 days as part of the ongoing investigation.
