This past Thursday (August 24th) myFM partnered with Lambton Mutual Insurance and other businesses in Strathroy-Caradoc to bring back the 105.7 myFM ‘All Hands On Deck Food Drive’.
Volunteers from myFM and Lambton Mutual Insurance were stationed outside the Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart, and Food Basics in Strathroy from 10am to 6pm to gather donations from the community.
General Manager of 105.7 myFM David McAllan says this year’s Food Drive was record breaking.
Not only were non-perishables, hygiene products, and school supplies donated in record numbers, but money and gift card donations were also very high in numbers.
All donations were spilt between three local food banks in Strathroy, who were carefully chosen.
McAllan talks about the variety of trucks that were filled with donations and how heartwarming it was to see all the donations.
He also talks about why it was so important that myFM hosted the Food Drive.
Every year starts the same way in terms of feelings according to McAllan. Fear and doubt often play a role, but are dissolved by the end of the day after seeing all the donations.
Account Manager Sean, who recently joined the myFM team says it was amazing to see the look on the faces of the people who received the donations, and see how willing the community was to help.
The ‘All Hands on Deck Food Drive’ was a huge success and McAllan says there are quite a few people to thank for that.
