myFM brought you the story last week that the County of Middlesex had partnered with London’s Fanshawe College to award 10 Early Childhood Educator students with a bursary to cover tuition and books. We now have more information about this bursary that is exclusive to Middlesex County first year ECE students at Fanshawe College.
Joe Winser, the Middlesex County Manager of Social Services, says the funding comes from the Child Care and Early Years Workforce funding from the Ministry of Education, and it’s to grow the number of staff to provide quality education.
This bursary is open to any first year Fanshawe Students going into their ECE program and the deadline to apply is this Friday.
Winser says it was an easy decision for Middlesex County and Fanshawe College to collaborate.
The criteria is for a student who, at the time of selection:
– Demonstrates Financial need as determined by a budget submission
– Is a full-time domestic student entering their first year of Fanshawe College’s Early Childhood Education diploma program.
– Is in good academic standing
– Students have self-identified as having a Middlesex County home address on their application.
If funding is still available, students will have the opportunity to apply in January of 2023 and even September 2023.
To apply, you can go to the Fanshawe Bursaries page found here: https://bursaries.fanshawec.ca/ and search Early Childhood Education.
