Museum Strathroy-Caradoc is happy to have their Heritage Walking Tours back. Museum Curator Michelle Wright says the tours take place in downtown Mount Brydges, downtown Strathroy and at the Strathroy Cemetery.
The tours take place Tuesday afternoons at 2pm and select Saturdays. The next tour is July 4th and it is a cemetery walking tour. It costs $5 to register and all proceeds go back to the museum to fund more summer programs. You can go to www.strathroymuseum.ca to register, or call at (519) 245-0492.
Coming this Thursday, a creative writing workshop is taking place with Kym Wolfe, an author from London. They also have Artifacts Untold: A Creative Writing Experience happening now. Pick one of four items to write a short story about or draw a pictures. Short stories must be 750 words or less and be submitted to info@strathroymuseum.ca by July 30th. The winners will be published on their website.
For the next two weeks, the museum will be displaying a copy of the Longwoods Treaty No. 25 from 1822. In honor of this anniversary Chippewas of the Thames First Nation will be coming to talk about the Treaty on July 13 at 2pm. In addition, Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum will be coming for a drop-in event July 6 from 1-3pm, to continue our theme of learning about our surrounding Indigenous communities. Both of these events are free, and all ages are welcome.
The museum also does private tours as well for large groups, or if you can’t make the Tuesday afternoons.
Museum Strathroy-Caradoc also has a call out for local artists. They are setting up their gift shop and are asking local artists to come out and show their work for a chance to have it featured.
