The fate of the Komoka Community Centre was decided Wednesday evening through a special Middlesex Centre Council meeting where they needed to decide following plenty of public comments if they wanted to officially label the Centre as surplus which would open the door for a new development proposal from two Strathroy Doctors to bring a new health and athletic training centre on part of the Komoka Park grounds. Before the recorded council vote, Deputy Mayor John Brennan expressed his thoughts on wanting new development to come.
Councillor Hugh Aerts thanked the public for all the feedback but needed to communicate his displeasure on how some of the public chose to do that.
Unfortunately the Deputy Mayor’s comments did not carry much weight, as council voted 6-1 to not deem the Community Centre surplus, and thus putting a stop for now on any new development in that particular area in Komoka.
