Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department were called out early Sunday for a barn fire. Just before 8am Sunday, crews were called to Wightman Drive for the barn fire full of tractors and equipment. It was a full fire department response with 40 firefighters from Strathroy-Caradoc stations 2 and 3 in addition to tanker support from station 1. Fire Chief Brent Smith tells myFM a quick coordinated attack brought the fire under control and saved the barn and the majority of the equipment inside. The fire loss is estimated to be $135,000 however, the amount of barn saved and equipment saved is estimated to be over $500,000. The origin of the fire is believed to be a tractor with the cause being undetermined and the scene was cleared by fire crews around 10am.
