For myFM’s Next Gen Farmer brought to you by Cuddy Farms, we are featuring Isabelle Van Geffen, a 17 year-old student who now works on her family farm for her co-op, and also works at Bax Dairy Farm.
Isabelle says that she doesn’t love working with people per say, but once she got a job working at Bax Dairy Farm she fell in love with it. Then she had the opportunity to do a Co-Op on her family farm, and loves working on her own schedule and own hours without other people around.
As someone who sees the direct impact that farmers have on people, and that people have on farmers, she hopes everyone comes to appreciate the role everyone plays in day-to-day life.
She hopes to one day take over her farm, with her dad, and go to school to learn as much as she can about farming in different areas.
As a young girl in farming, a male dominated industry, Isabelle says that she hopes in the future she sees more women farmers, and hopes that girls know that you can be girly while also working in the industry.
