The Strathroy Fire Department is getting a new Tanker Truck, to replace Tanker 14 and Rescue 16. Tanker 14 is approaching the end of its usable life, and is in need of repairs, which they have temporarily fixed so they can continue to use it while they wait for the new truck to arrive. As for Rescue 16, Fire Chief Brent Smith says that the decision to not replace the vehicle was made before his time at the department. Chief Smith added that the new tanker has a lot of space, and will have more use than a typical tanker.
Chief Smith says that the new tanker should arrive some time in March if all goes to plan. The cost of the new 2021 Ahrens Fox Pumper Tanker will be $706,670.00+HST. The purchase is funded through a loan with Infrastructure Ontario.
