As we know, there were two demonstrations in Strathroy-Caradoc, to protest the pandemic restrictions last week. Police Chief Mark Campbell tells myFM law enforcement is attempting to address the public’s right to peaceful assembly and orders concerning the contagion.
Last week’s Thursday gathering had no issues, but the same couldn’t be said for last Saturday.
Campbell says there’s a lot more under the umbrella of policing than just enforcing.
He adds these are challenging times for sure for individuals and law enforcement.
Saturday’s protest was the largest of the two. Four people who chose not to disperse after police asked them to, were ticketed. One person was charged for blasting their car horn far longer than necessary.
