Jason Kaspersma, Technical Director at Strathroy United Soccer Club, is much more than just a coach, or a trainer, he is an educator. Kaspersma started working with youth teams as well as the Grass Roots Program in his beginnings, but going further back, he sees big differences in soccer from when he was a kid.
Kaspersma says seeing practice drills or advice executed in a game is very fulfilling.
He thanks his coaches for their originality in helping develop skill sets, and is an advocate for working with small groups.
With the 2020 outdoor and indoor seasons shut down due to the pandemic, it’s all about keeping kids locked in for Kaspersma.
A lot of that comes down to the parents as well, according to him. Kaspersma did a little bit of virtual coaching and a few small group sessions in October, and is now back to virtual tactics. He says if you have energy and gumption towards a situation, it’s a joy ride from there.
He has been coaching soccer for 20 years, and over 5 years in Strathroy.
