Strathroy-Caradoc mayor Joanne Vanderheyden answered a few more questions Tuesday regarding the province beginning regional Phase 2 openings which include the Middlesex London region. The mayor says they’ve been having these conversations for a while, about how to move forward when they’re allowed to open things up, like splash pads and pools this Friday. Things like that take time, Vanderheyden explained, and that’s why it’s not likely you’ll see places like public pools actually re-open on the first day.
She says the municipality didn’t move forward in hiring back staff or adding resources to different areas to prepare for Friday’s opening because there was never a timeline involved which allowed them to. Vanderheyden said if they did that, and it turns out things like pools won’t open until August, then it’d have been a waste of tax payer resources.
