Strathroy-Caradoc Fire department spent most of Thursday evening battling a stubborn fire at a residential dwelling with multiple units in Mount Brydges. Fire Chief Brian George says multiple units were called to a century old home, an older balloon frame type home. The fire caused extensive damage to the structure of the home and got into the roof systems which made it extremely difficult for the firefighters to fight the fire. All occupants from both units escaped without injuries. Chief George labelled it a very stubborn fire. He says there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The Fire Marshals Office has been called in to investigate for the cause due to the high dollar loss. Several family pets are missing in the blaze. No estimate of damage has been determined at this time.
