Great news for a local staple event in Adelaide Metcalfe Township. Recently, Council officially designated the 2025 Kerwood Annual Ball Tournament as a municipally significant event. This designation allows the organizers from the Optimist Club of Adelaide Metcalfe to apply for a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), enabling the sale of alcohol during the event.?
The township does not bear any direct financial responsibility for the event, although past council resolutions have approved grant support for facility rental fees. The Optimist Club remains responsible for meeting all conditions required under the SOP framework, including submitting proof of insurance and ensuring safety and security protocols are followed for the event which runs from June 6th-8th at Kerwood Park.
