
71,000 trees planted and 12,000 students in the area engaged in conservation education. Those are just two of the milestones from 2024, outlined by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority during its Annual General Meeting last week in Watford.
Trail and playground improvements were also completed at Warwick Conservation area, including the installation of the Authority’s first natural playground.
And thanks to a historical investment of almost $8 million dollars by the Canada Water Agency, the Authority launched the Sydenham Phosphorus Reduction Initiative. It aims to reduce the loading of phosphorus into the Sydenham River, and ultimately, Lake Erie in an effort to fight against algae blooms.
