Residents in Strathroy, Komoka and Western Middlesex County should prepare for a winter storm bringing heavy snow and freezing rain from later today into Thursday. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Tuesday morning, warning of snowfall amounts possibly exceeding 15 cm, along with poor visibility due to blowing snow, and potential freezing rain.
The storm is expected to begin Wednesday evening and continue through Thursday. A low-pressure system moving into the region will bring significant snowfall, with the potential for freezing rain or rain late Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Forecasters say the exact track of the system remains uncertain, but if it moves farther south, snowfall amounts could be even higher.
No matter the system’s path, hazardous road conditions are expected. Drivers should prepare for difficult travel and consider postponing non-essential trips until conditions improve. Stay up to date on weather alerts and road conditions before heading out.
