This is the President’s Club, brought to you by Jayden’s Mechanical and today we’re featuring Marie Kingma, the President of the Mount Brydges Lions Club, now in its 77th year.
Kingma has been a member for about 10 years, and before that was a member of the Lioness Club. She says they have about 40 members but they’re always looking for more. She says the role of President involves welcoming members, especially new members. They try to be conscious of what they might not know including Lions Club protocol. Presidents organize and oversee a lot of different things and attend many events in the community.
Kingma says she’s really enjoying being President, which is a one year term, especially when she’s out in the community. And she and the Club take a lot of pride in their many community projects which include park benches, the skate park and splash pad and they’re very involved in Canada Day celebrations. Kingma says the trails behind the Arena are also a point of pride and well used by the community.
