Towards the end of 2024, the Strathroy-Caradoc Housing Corporation was notified of multiple resignations from its Board of Directors, including Chairperson Councillor Donna Pammer and Treasurer Councillor Greg Willsie, which left the board with only two remaining members; Mayor Colin Grantham and Deputy Mayor Mike McGuire.
This status falls below the required quorum of three members, and thus has resulted in the board being unable to convene or advance its objectives. To address the issue, this week at Council, Deputy Mayor McGuire nominated Councillors Steve Pelkman and Brian Derbyshire to join the Board. Both nominees accepted, and their appointments were approved, restoring the Board to functional status.
Per SCHC By-law No. 1, the Board of Directors should include:
The current Mayor of the Municipality (ex officio);
The current Deputy Mayor of the Municipality (ex officio);
A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of three (3) residents of the Municipality, with at least one (1) being a tenant in a Corporation-owned building;
A minimum of one (1) and a maximum of two (2) additional duly elected councillors of the Municipality (ex officio).
