The battle continues south of the border with wildfires in California that began back on January 7th. Some fires still burning and some now under total control. We connected with Strathroy native Angela Callegari, who’s family with husband Massimo, daughter Chloe and son James have been living in Oak Park, about 12 minutes West of Calabassas, and about 20 minutes from Malibu located in the Santa Monica mountains for about a year now. She told myFM when they moved there, they did do their homework, but they knew there is a price to pay for living in a normally dry warm area.
As far as location and current status when the interview was conducted Thursday morning, they are in good shape in their neck of the woods.
So back on January 7th, word travelled fast and started with her own daughter.
She says one thing many people don’t know is that in wind events on the L.A coast, power disconnection is actually a safety step.
Callegari says they pretty much knew when to start packing for a possible evacuation and came to a very important realization in the midst of that process.
myFM asked her, almost ten days after it all began, what her thoughts were.
And what about the fact that she’s Canadian and her homeland being very present with air water tankers helping out daily.
You can hear the entire interview with Callegari on the link.
