The OPP West Region is reminding pet owners to leave their animals at home instead of in cold vehicles during the winter months. Sgt. Ed Sanchuk emphasizes that just like their summer safety messaging, leaving pets in a vehicle during frigid temperatures can have tragic outcomes.
Sanchuk says cars can act like fridges with the weather gets frigid – so keep Fido at home.
The best place for your pet is inside, except when you take them outside for exercise or if it is a breed of dog capable of surviving outdoor weather – though long-haired dogs that are accustomed to being outside need extra precautions when the temperature plummets.
