This is Radon Action Month, a good time to let you know more about the potentially dangerous, odourless gas. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil and it can seep into homes. The danger of Radon is that it can cause lung cancer if you’re exposed to it for a long time.
Dave Pavletic is a program manager with the healthy environments team at the Middlesex London Health Unit.
Pavletic suggests people test their homes for radon and you can pick up kits at most hardware stores or online.
