Holiday travellers waiting on passports in the mail do have another course of action as the postal strike drags on. The Federal Government has confirmed disruptions with mailing out the passports. “If you didn’t pay for pickup service, the Canada Post labour disruption will delay the delivery of your passport,” reads a statement on www.canada.ca.
The statement says travellers can switch their application to an in-person pickup at a nearby service location to avoid the mail mess. It also notes that applications for new passports or renewals can still be processed at Service Canada Centres or passport offices, and urges face-to-face services to ensure your passport needs are met.
