On Saturday this past weekend before 9pm, all three Strathroy-Caradoc fire stations were dispatched to a shop fire on Christina Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in flames. Crews quickly set up portable water tanks and worked to bring the fire under control. Despite their efforts, the building sustained complete damage.
Tragically, one firefighter was injured while on the scene and is receiving treatment. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department reminds residents that extension cords should only be used as temporary connections. If permanent wiring is needed, please have a licensed electrician install additional outlets. Also, never connect multiple extension cords together—use a cord that is long enough to reach your desired location safely.
