Peterborough native Porter Martone has been named captain of the Brampton Steelheads for the 2024-25 OHL season.
This marks another significant milestone for the 17-year-old Martone, who is entering his third season in the league.
Last year, he scored 33 goals while putting up 71 points for the Steelheads.
Martone, who previously captained Canada’s U18 team to a gold medal at the World Championships in Finland in May, continues to build on his family’s hockey legacy. His father, Mike, captained the Peterborough Petes in the 1997-98 season.
As a top prospect for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, Martone’s leadership and on-ice performance will be key as the Steelheads chase an OHL championship.
