Strathroy-Caradoc Council has switched gears on an approved decision just two weeks ago where they approved new and upgraded sidewalks and to move forward with the tendering process for the project to take place for Dell Drive in Strathroy, and Queen Street, Longfield Street, Forbes Street, Bowan Street, and Adelaide Road in Mount Brydges, along with Longwoods Road in Melbourne.
A letter that came in from Dell Drive resident George Glover along with about 50 signatures of petition stated that “sidewalks are not required on Dell Drive”. The letter went on to say that “placing a sidewalk on the interior of the block would create more of a problem for the homeowners limiting the parking in their driveways”. After a short discussion, Council approved a motion to not place new sidewalks on Dell Drive and the use those funds allocated for that to another sidewalk project to be chosen specifically for Ward One. Part of that approved motion was also to speak with the school board to find out if any other options are available for school drop off and pick up locations.
