After 32 years as a music teacher, Strathroy’s Rob Gee will be hangin up his musical wand and retiring next month from a career that has been filled with joy and passion. Gee currently is at JS Buchanan in Strathroy and has taught music for over 30 years, but before being able to teach students in a classroom, he had to learn in some first.
JS Buchanan school in Strathroy is an elementary school in the community, but Gee says teaching elementary wasn’t originally in his plans.
Throughout his career he has taught at a few different schools within the community but one thing has remained constant as part of his job.
After 32 years as a teacher there is a lot to consider when it comes time to retire, and this decision was not something Gee took lightly, but ultimately he says now is the right time.
Being a teacher for this long doesn’t come without its highs and lows, and a fair share of memories made and friendships being forged. Gee has some people he would like to thank for all their support during his time as a teacher.
Gee will continue teaching the rest of the school year, but as we know, time always flies when it comes to deadlines and waiting on something. Gee has a prediction for when the last day of school finally arrives.
As for plans when retirement day actually arrives, Gee has a few thoughts in mind.
From the whole myFM team, congrats on your retirement Rob!
