myFM continues it’s Election ‘ 24 candidate features today for the By-election in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex May 2. The riding has been Conservative blue for 12 years now, following the 8-year reign for the Liberals of former MPP Maria Van Bommel. Cathy Burghardt-Jesson would like to win the riding back for the Liberals and she says she has the experience to do that. The current Mayor of Lucan-Biddulph and three-time Middlesex Warden, Burghardt-Jesson says it was a tough decision to try for provincial politics.
But Burghardt-Jesson says she became very concerned about provincial downloading.
Representation was another big factor in why she decided to run provincially.
The Ontario Liberal Party is in the rebuilding phase with new leader Bonnie Crombie at the helm. Burghardt-Jesson says that can be a positive thing.
She’s hoping to not only win the votes of Liberal-minded individuals, but also those who may have voted for the PC’s in the past, due to her level of experience.
Cathy Burghardt-Jesson is a well-known name in Lucan-Biddulph of course and in many other parts of this huge riding. We asked her how she’s getting her name out in areas west of Newbury that might not know her very well.
