Middlesex County Council recently unanimously approved a plan to relocate to a new site in south London. Currently based at the Historic Old Courthouse on Ridout Street, sold in 2019, discussions ensued for a new location. Despite hopes for a county-based site, Warden Aina DeViet cited available land and convenience in selecting 1035 Adelaide Street South. The site shares space with the Middlesex-London Paramedic Headquarters and offers easy access to Highway 401. Council members reviewed designs in March. The projected occupancy date for the new $7.15-million building is December 2025.
“I guess it’s always closer to someone than another. You have to do the best you can and the costs of purchasing property and then wondering about servicing that was a known quantity. A lot of the environmental assessment pieces were already done and staff had done work there because of the other buildings. So no surprises. That’s important to,” said DeViet.
