Local harness racing horse owners Strathroy’s Dr. Sara Gatchell and Jake Higgs along with Reg Higgs and Yolanda Fellows have found success in a horse called Willys Home Run with trainer Kyle Fellows and Driver James MacDonald. Willys Home Run is named after Gatchell’s father, William Gatchell with the story being that when Sara was a little girl, she had promised her dad that she would name a horse after him. The ownership of Willys Home Run fully own her mother as well, Rite Outa the Park. This mare also happens to be the mother of a very successful horse Logan Park. Willys Home Run was born in 2021, and she will be entering her 3-year-old racing season this summer.
Now Logan Park is named after Gatchell and Higgs’ son Logan. Reg Higgs owned the broodmare Rite Outa the Park at that time and named the colt after Logan. Reg sold the broodmare to Gatchell and Higgs in 2020, and the rest is history. Logan Park was born in 2018, and he is 6-years-old this year and still racing and hopes to add to a very successful career thus far surpassing the $1 million in purse earnings last season.
Logan Park owners include Out of the Park Stable (Rob Fellows, Blair Corbeil and Mike McCallister), Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo.
Trainer is Kyle Fellows with driver Doug McNair.
