The Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation is preparing for the second annual GPHSF Bonspiel at the Peterborough Curling Club on February 17th.
The bonspiel promises an exciting day of two competitive games, a breakfast and lunch, as well as the chance to win your share of over $2500 in prizes. There will also be trivia and other engaging games throughout the day.
Executive Director Vince Bierworth says this is the second time they’ve held the event, adding to their annual schedule.
Beyond the excitement of the competition, the bonspiel serves a noble cause, with funds raised going to support initiatives aimed at advancing health equity and expanding access to healthcare services for residents of Peterborough City and County, as well as Hiawatha and Curve Lake First Nations.
Bierworth says similar to last year, the funds raised at this year’s event will be channeled through partnerships with the Peterborough Family Health Team and various other community organizations.
Space is limited for the event and Bierworth says that those interested in participating need to secure their place before the registration deadline closes at midnight this Sunday.
Organizers says that participants should have some experience with curling and must bring their own equipment, as on-ice training for beginners will not be provided.
