January was Alzheimer’s Awareness month as we know, this progressive brain disorder starts with forgetfulness and can eventually affect vital functions. In a candid interview with myFM’s Afternoon host, Emily Moore, she opened up about her personal experience with Alzheimer’s.
As the disease took its toll, he began to forget even the closest relationships, including Emily herself.
Watching a loved one deteriorate is undoubtedly heart-wrenching, compounded by the added pressure of caregiving that falls on the family. Emily highlighted the emotional challenges of Alzheimer’s for family members.
The disease not only erodes memories but also eventually disrupts the normal functioning of the body, making it a battle for both patients and their families. Emily encourages people to contribute by donating to local Alzheimer’s societies, engaging in online activities, or organizing fundraisers, no matter what month we are in.
