Black History Month has begun and the local Catholic school board is kicking things off with a bang.
There will be a daylong Opening Ceremony event at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School today.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, Benjamin Tenesia says the theme this year is “Our Stories to Tell”, adding that is an occasion that challenges us to look beyond the curriculum, to engage in meaningful conversations, and to embrace the diverse narratives that shape our understanding of the world.
Tenesia says this month is not just for black people, but for all Canadians.
The opening ceremony will feature a mobile black history museum and a list of guest speakers.
