The Middlesex-London Health Unit is warning patients of Dr. George Rice about a possible problem with infections because of procedures done between 2019 and September 2023. If you had a procedure like an injection or a lumbar puncture during this time, there might be a small chance of getting a blood-borne infection.
The Health Unit says it’s better to talk to your healthcare provider about testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, and syphilis, just to be safe. They have done an investigation on Dr. Rice’s clinic on November 24th, 2023, and are telling everyone in case they had a procedure done with him. They say there are no cases of infections from Dr. Rice’s practices yet.
If you have any questions, contact the Infectious Disease Control Team at 519-663- 5317 or by email at IDC@mlhu.on.ca.
