A Peterborough retail giant has passed away.
On Sunday, Kawartha TV and Stereo general manager Scott Stuart posted on Facebook that his brother, store founder Glenn Stuart, “lost his battle with cancer.”
A Peterborough native, Stuart opened the Kawartha Sewing Centre in 1971. After stocking stereos at that location and seeing that they sold well, he changed direction – a move that led to his eventual opening of Kawartha TV and Stereo at Park and Lansdowne Streets that became, and remains, known as The Bargain Corner.
Upon his retirement in 2016, Stuart continued to support the community in various ways and was a fervent local live music supporter. In 2019, he was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
