Seasons Strathroy Retirement Community residents Bill and Willa recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 31, 2023. Through the ups and downs of life, their enduring love and infectious laughter have warmed the hearts of everyone around them. This story celebrates their incredible journey of love and offers a glimpse into their secrets of a lasting relationship.
Bill and Willa’s love story began in their early teens when they met through Willa’s brother. They bonded over card games and Sunday night dances at the Old Mill near Delaware, ON, which sowed the seeds of a lifelong connection. Their journey has seen them raise two sons, Ronald and Richard, and welcome granddaughters Melissa and Andrea into their lives.
When they moved to Seasons Strathroy in November 2019, Bill was quick to express his appreciation for the welcoming community and sense of togetherness among their neighbours. Willa has nothing but love for Seasons Strathroy and finds something special about everything within the home.
When asked about the secret to their enduring love, Willa’s advice is simple yet profound: “Forget the small stuff.” Bill adds that it is important to have those arguments but then make-up after. Their love and shared sense of humour have been vital to their 70 years of happiness.
“Bill and Willa are such a fun and caring couple. I love to see them dancing during musical entertainment, cracking a joke to one another, and laughing together,” said Rebecca McCullough, Fun Manager, Seasons Strathroy. “They’re always offering a hand to assist around Seasons. I hope they continue to smile; they both help make Seasons a brighter place.”
