Ontario’s experienced some sporadic weather this fall– With hot, sunny days plummeting into much lower temperatures.
105.7 myFM spoke with Canadian Climatologist, David Phillips, who told us about the weather conditions Southern/Southeastern Ontario has been feeling.
He started off with his fall weather predictions for Southern and Eastern Ontario.
Phillips said some Ontarians saw late September, early October days reaching over 30 degrees.
Phillips says the beginning of fall was an anomaly for hot weather.
This begs the question– Why was it so hot in Ontario?
Well, Environment Canada reports that climate change is causing extreme temperatures at a greater frequency than in the past, increasing the severity of heat waves and contributing to dry conditions, wildfires, and heavy precipitation risks.
Although Ontario had a strange September-October heat wave, Phillips says the sudden cold is normal.
While it would be very helpful to predict what is coming next for Strathroy in terms of weather, Phillips says to keep his words in mind: we can’t quite tell for sure what comes next when it comes to the weather.
