The Peterborough Police Service has announced that two individuals have been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred last year in Peterborough.
The incident took place around 1:00 pm on April 20, 2022, when officers responded to a call at a residence in the Park Street South and Lansdowne Street area. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds.
A 31-year-old man from Mississauga succumbed to his injuries at the hospital while a 29-year-old male, also from Mississauga, suffered a non-life-threatening gun shot wound.
Following a comprehensive and extensive investigation, Police have laid charges against two individuals:
- An 18-year-old male from the Greater Toronto Area, who was a youth at the time of the shooting, has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault.
- 23-year-old Anthony Powell of Toronto has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder and accessory after the fact of aggravated assault. Powell is presently in custody on unrelated drug charges but was on a release order at the time of the Peterborough incident.
