A partial eclipse sun will be visible in and around Peterborough on October 14th when the moon takes up residence between the sun and earth.
According to the Peterborough Astronomical Association, the eclipse will start at 11:56 a.m. with 26 percent of the sun obscured at 1:10 p.m. before the eclipse ends at 2:26 p.m.
Association publicity director Rick Stankiewicz say clear skies will be key to a good look at what is a spectacular celestial event.
Stankiewicz, who will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico where a near total, or annular eclipse, will be visible, is pretty excited.
The association invites all to come to the Harold Town Conservation Area off Old Norwood Road to safely view the partial eclipse.
Looking ahead, a total solar eclipse on April 8th of next year will be visible from the Kingston and Belleville areas to points east.
